DIY Harry Potter Party
It's hard to believe, but my nephew turned 11 this month. To celebrate, we threw a Harry Potter-themed birthday party. Here are some of the decorations we made for him!

Floating candles, Hogwarts artwork, and a brick wall entrance! Here's how we created simple but fun DIY party decor!
To enter the party room, the guests can run through the brick wall just like at platform 9 3/4. To make this entrance, I used a shower curtain, sponge, and red paint! Easy, cheap, and quick! I cut up the middle and hung it up using tacks. You can buy the supplies local or on Amazon.
Floating Candles!! These are super easy to make, with supplies from Amazon. Here's a link that tells exactly how to make them!

Hogwarts artwork! To make this, I just took a piece of cardboard and drew Hogwarts on it. I googled "how to draw Hogwarts" for this one!
Not quite the sorting hat... when guests entered, they were sorted into houses by choosing a slip of paper. These papers are parchment paper I put in the oven after writing the four houses on them. If you're super artsy, you could draw the Marauder's Map on parchment paper and put that in the oven to make it look old!
And if you have a hat, use the hat instead for sorting! You can purchase a sorting hat or other secondhand Harry Potter items online at Poshmark. Use code CREATIVESAVER to save $10 on your first purchase.

Magical messages!! I made a chalkboard and "wand" for everyone to write a message to the birthday boy. This photo is before all the guests signed. :-) The wand was created by gluing a piece of chalk onto a homemade wand, which can be made from hot glue and a chopstick.
Harry Potter Fun!
From candy to games, there's everything you can imagine on Amazon
for Harry Potter fans!
And of course you'll need a Happee Birthdae cake, like the one Hagrid made for Harry's 11th birthday.
Recipe coming soon!
Happy 11th Birthday to Harry and to my nephew!
And happy birthday to your loved one! I hope it's a magical one!

This DIY Harry Potter Party was a darling. I loved all of these details. One can make any bash look expensive with right DIY crafts. At some local event space San Francisco we also threw a Disneyland inspired bash for our son and made a lot of handmade décor that looked super amazing.
